★ Best island's best places and activities ★

Everyone loves Maui. It’s been named “World’s Best Island,” 14 times by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler. No wonder. Maui's gifts are many — 81 beaches, four manicured resorts, 16 golf courses, a 10,000-foot volcano, half the world's population of humpback whales and more than 750 species of reef fish. Vacationers can play on, under and over the water, hike, bike, browse cultural sites and shop. Museums, historic churches, funky towns and farms all beckon for attention. This app’s 236 entries and more than 1200 photos will help you find these places and activities.

The app covers not only Maui, but nearby Lanai and Molokai. It also lists activities that could fill every day of a Maui vacation. You’ll find companies offering scuba, snorkel, surfing lessons, zip lines and other adventures. We’ve chosen them from the scores of services offering these services based on our experience and expert’s advice. We also distinguish between them, telling which surf schools are good with kids, or which dive companies are for experts. No one pays to be listed in the app and most visits are anonymous.

But be sure to save some Maui time just to dream in this gorgeous place with soft air and world-class sunsets.

★ About the Author ★

Carol Fowler has written award-winning “Maui: Great Destinations Hawaii” (Countryman Press) and provided its 200 plus photos. A former newspaper travel editor, she has contributed many articles and photos about Maui to diverse newspapers and magazines. Like the rest of the planet, she loves the island. She has walked Maui, Molokai and Lanai's widest beaches, explored remote bamboo forests, stood under waterfalls, snorkeled over coral reefs and eaten pineapple in the field. She has listened to Hawaiians “talk story” and sighed with pleasure at a crimson Lahaina sunset.

This app will give you the information to do the same in more than 225 entries and almost 1,200 images.
