Photobucket and Thumbplay announced a new feature called “send to mobile,” and as soon as we hear “mobile,” we need to cover it, right?
The two-click solution enables Photobucket users to customize their mobile phones with photos sent from their Photobucket albums. The service costs $1.99 and as a result you will be able to quickly make wallpapers out of photos from your Photobucket albums.
More than 2,000 mobile phones are supported and image optimization is a snap, taking just few seconds to complete.
Kinda neat if you rely on Photobucket to store your photos — 2 bucks could potentially save you tons of time, and I guess that’s the whole point here. Then again, you could take a stand here, arguing Photobucket and Thumbplay want to sell you your own content. Hmmm, that’s kinda strange when you think about it. Still, I consider their offering to be a quick optimization service and, as I said, in that sense 2 bucks is a cheap, time-saving investment.
