Wind Mobile Adds Low-End Huawei U1250

Canada’s newest carrier, Wind Mobile, has released its sixth phone, the Huawei U1250. It’s not much to look at (2 megapixel camera, 2″ 240 x 320 display, FM radio, microSD memory card support up to 8 GB), but damn if that $70 off-contract pricetag won’t appeal to people who just want a no-nonsense phone and don’t want to be on the hook with a three-year contract. The U1250 is by far the cheapest phone in Wind’s lineup, to the point that I’m a little concerned for what compromises had to be made in hardware quality to keep the price that low.

The last phone Wind released was the Nokia 5230, which is probably the cheapest handset that could still be considered a smartphone, and Wind has promised that there will be at least one more handset in the next four months or so, likely packing Android.

If you’re looking for simple hardware, and no-strings-attached service, you can grab the Huawei U1250 from Wind Mobile right over here.  As added incentive, Wind is still offering the first month for free, and has extended their $150 credit promo for switching from another carrier until May 4.
